With feedback we've received as well as through our own observations, the mod team has amended the spam rules to now include tag spam. The rule addition can obviously be found in the rule book, but I've copied it below as well (If you have any questions or need clarification about the new rule addition, or any of the rules in general you are always welcome to pop by the ask a mod thread, or pm any of us directly):

 

Spam includes, but is not limited to: multiple duplicate posts in one thread, posting the same picture multiple times in one post, use of unrelated tags in a thread, posting the same thing in multiple threads, excessive emoticon spam (more than 15 in one post), and creating new topics/threads one after another.

 

 

Tag Spam - 1 point

It is considered to be tag spam when a thread contains tags unrelated to the topic of discussion, which are being used to generate thread views, or antagonize fandoms/users. If a user chooses to add tags back in after a moderator has removed them from a thread, their posting rights will be taken away for an extended duration at the moderator's discretion.  

 

1st offense: 0 Point Verbal Warning + unrelated tags removed from thread (Warning Log)

2nd offense: 1 point + Taking Posting Rights Away: (1 hour)

3rd+ offense:  2 points + Taking Posting Rights Away: (1 day)

I know some of you have forgotten, but we did hold a recruitment and were looking for some new members!  Well, we finally found some members and are pleased to present them to the OH community!

Because we had some amazing applicants, we struggled very hard to just stick to the intended three recruits.  So, we ended up selecting FOUR, I repeat, FOUR new recruits! :O

Tzuream impressed us with her thorough application and strong teamwork skills.  Having worked hard with other users in organizing the Twice voting thread, OTP and member badges, we are confident that she will be a great addition.  Her communication game is strong and will be an amazing asset.~

Not only has she shown to be a good staff member, but she is definitely a lover of badges.  She has organized voting threads and has made countless badges.  In addition to that experience, she brings her love of creating voting collages, making her a perfect addition to the team.  Can’t wait for those collages!

No stranger to the OH community, Jay has shown her interest in badges over the years and has done a great job, year after year with Awards Change Season.  She knows the badge making process and has helped run numerous voting threads.  She’ll be great in assisting users when questions arise!

Symeriey

Her budding passion and interest in badges had us from the get go and we couldn’t help, but add her to the team.  In addition to creating badges, she has participated in a badge arrangement game for users to participate in that garnered some success!  We can’t wait to see what other ideas and contributions she will bring to the team!

I would also like to take the time to announce that with these new additions, we bid farewell to a team member:

You’ve done amazing work for the team.  You took on the task of purchasables and have done a great job in managing and bridging the two subjects together.  You were the only guy on the team, but could get down with this female crew.  Dealt with potential conflicts exquisitely.  Were often ready and available to help cover fellow members with their shifts when they couldn’t.  You were a strong rock for this team and it won’t be the same without you.  Best of luck in all that you do and hope for nothing, but good things to come your way.

Hello everyone! Today I'm back with some news regarding our Press Team!

Firslty, it's a farewell. Today I want to announce that our Press Coordinator Holke is going to step down on her position. Holke has been amazing to work with, she's always full of ideas and passions, and she has been doing some great work in the growth of the Press Team and the blog in the last years! Unfortunately, it seems that real life gonna take her away from us, and I can only weep and wish all the best things for her future endeavours. Thanks for everything, Holke!

With that, Oh Press Team is coming back with a vengeance, and there are a lot of exciting things that we are going to deliver in the future. Before any of you trying to be funny with "OH has a blog???", yes, we do, and shame on you for not checking them out. We will try to bring more interesting articles and original content for you, so please check them out! With that, I'm also introducing a new section where the Press Team can showcase their work, please pass by and give them support!   

Of course, the team would need a new leader. I'm glad to introduce Rinne, who will be stepping up as the new supreme leader of the OhPression. Rinne is definitely not a LookieLookie in the Press Team, and she has been nothing but impressive for all her works so far. Please congratulate Rinne on her new post, and I hope she will lead the Press Team on the flower road from now on!

Hello everyone! Your events coordi JM with some happy news, after opening applications for the Asia division we finally have our new members. This was a long process and first of all i would like to thank everyone that took the time to apply and send an application for this. Now lets get into the goodies our new members

Some of you may be familiar with Nelkah as she used to be part of the staff but this time around she comes not as a mod but as an events team member. Ready to create events and games for the users. With a lot of creativity, good behavior and diligence she is someone that everyone should look out for.

Some of you may know Rei as she has a been part of the gaming community for a while now, and has a participated in a ton of games, events and mafias. Now wanting to take a role of not a player but a host with a lot of enthusiasm we look forward to seeing what she is willing to bring to the table.

Some of you may very familiar with Terra as she has hosted not only multiple games but also events such as Lemonade Stand. With a ton of experience and a ton of creativity we look forward to working with her in bringing new events to the forum and to Asian users.

Please everyone, give a warm welcome to our 3 new asian division members who will bring a ton of new games targeted not only to the asian users but also to the entire forum

Hello chingus. OH! Chart data freak Eaze here to give you guys an announcement on the future of OH! Chart.

The chart currently has the following score percentages: Gaon Streamings and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User voting (20%).

It has been 23 weeks since OH! Chart started, and we've realized that there were times when groups would win simply by Physical sales scores alone. The data for streamings, downloads and votes were essentially useless.

To counteract this, we have decided to change the scoring to: Gaon Streamings and Downloads (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%) and OH User Voting (25%). This will help lessen the gap between the ones with very high physical sales scores and those with little to none. Changes will come into effect on Friday the 13th

With the 5% increase, votes are going to be even more important as ever, and will be the tiebreaker for most of the future chart rankings. The OH!Press team is looking forward to everyone's participation in the coming months ahead. Thank you

The Translations Team anniversary was actually on the 21st of October … but this incompetent and busy coordi was too busy to put up a notice and so few days later here we are … Forgive me please T^T

I’d like to take this moment to thank all of our current and past translators for their volunteered time and commitment to the OneHallyu Translations team. Without their dedication Translations Team would not have lasted for the past 4 years.

A little bit of history … Translations team started out as a project in hoping to get more people active in the Chinese section. Later on when the project became successful, both Japanese and Korean were added. I’ll be honest. There have been many times where I debated on closing the team due to lack of active translators. However whenever that happens, there would be at least one person wishing for the team to trudge on. And with that, four years later we stand as one of the oldest staff team on OneHallyu.

Ever since its creation, Translations team has a huge revolving roster of t-lators (100+!). People come and go and albeit it’s sad whenever a member leaves the team whether for change or going back to the real world, there’s always the fond memories of the fun and frustrating times we went through together as translators.

It has been my pleasure serving as your translations coordinator. I can never thank you all enough for the contribution each and every one of you have made. Know that they are appreciated and all of you are much loved ;-;

Hopefully Translations Team will keep growing old (growing old is good in this sense!) in the future ♡

Some of the members might know that we held the OneHallyu Awards of 2014, 2015 but unfortunately last year’s was cancelled due to server problems ... (*knock on wood*) But fret not! As we’ve hinted through the teaser videos, we’re making a comeback with this year’s 2017 OneHallyu Awards!

For those who are new, OneHallyu Awards honors the best of Korean culture in music and entertainment. For fun we have also added in some OH community-related content  

For this year’s OHAS, there will be 2 selection rounds: preliminary and final voting. For the preliminary round (which begins right now until November 10th, 11:59PM PST), you have the power to submit who YOU think deserves to be nominated. You may submit up to 5 nominations. When the preliminary round ends on the 10th, the top 5 nominations will move up to the final round.

Before you submit your nominations, please make sure to read the below c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y.

Voting Rules and Regulations

• You may only submit up to 5 nominations

• Your nomination must be considered to have been active between OCTOBER 1st, 2016 to OCTOBER 20th, 2017

  1. E.g. "Song of the Year" nominations must have been released between those two dates.

• When submitting nominations, make sure:

  1. You use their standard official names

     • E.g. Seventeen should not be submitted as ‘17’

  2. Be clear and detailed as possible

  3. Below are some example category submission format:

     • Song of the Year: Artist Name - Name of the Song

     • Album of the Year: Artist Name - Album title

     • Best Male/Female Choreography: Artist Name - Name of the Song

     • Best Collaboration: All Artist Names - Song

     • etc.

• You may update your submissions at any time as many times as you want until Nov. 10th

• You are allow to skip by simply ignoring them

• The top 5 nominations will move on to final voting

• Co-ed groups are eligible for both the male or female categories

• Failure to follow any of these rules may result in a complete voiding of all your nominations

So as some of you may have already noticed, we have recently lost one of our Junior Moderators Vanilla Cupcake ❤ who has sadly decided to resign from her position. I'm sure you will all agree that during her short time as a Junior Moderator, she has done a great job in her role, always positive, and we thank her for all of her hard-work and time she has committed to OneHallyu and its community. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours ^^

With that announcement in mind, we have decided to open up Junior Moderator applications in the hope of recruiting one more Junior Moderator to take up that available spot. This time, the period of time to send in your apps will be much shorter: one week from now, so the 9th of November.

Responsibilities:

Junior Moderators have much of the same responsibilities and powers as Moderators; however, they will be ushered through a training period before being given full moderator status. Once they are properly acclimated to their new role and proven their aptitude to manage the forum, they will be promoted to full Moderator status. They are expected to:

• Moderate all parts of the forum

• Assist the community and users

• Issue warnings and answer reports

• Assist the Senior Moderators

Requirements:

All applicants must have the time, communication skills, and motivation necessary to effectively moderate OneHallyu (At least 2 hours per day).

Applicants must demonstrate a sense of maturity, and conduct themselves professionally (especially when communicating with users and other members of the staff).

Must demonstrate a clear understanding of the rules (No prior warning points or second chance accounts. However, verbal warnings and appealed points will be considered and discussed depending on the severity of it).

All applicants must have proficient time management, and organizational skills.

Teamwork/collaboration is extremely important, so all applicants must be able to work well in groups/teams in order to be successful as a moderator.

Previous experience as a moderator, and or experience in a leadership position is a plus, but is not required for consideration.
